We received a very interesting e-mail from a client the other day in regards to Barry Levinson. This feedback prompted me to write a thorough review on Barry Levinson so that it wasn’t limited to one persons experience.
As per usual, I start my review with Google and so I type in the words “Barry Levinson Lawyer Las Vegas”. The first 5 results are his websites along with the Google places ad that has 68 reviews that give him an average of 4 1/2 stars out of 5. That’s a great rating on the surface but we will dig a little deeper. I click on the reviews button and for some reason, the stars now read a score of 3 out of 5. I’m not sure what the story is there but that’s just one more reason to keep digging. Here are a few reviews:
“I used Mr. Levinson’s service and was very pleased with the fortitude that this lawyer had. When everyone else told me “it cant be done” Barry got it done! He also got it done with minimal b.s ! All I can say is thanks for listening to me and not giving up!”
“Levinson’s law office is absolutely horrible in every aspect. They don’t return messages whether you contact them by phone, fax or email. Only a grievance filed with the State Bar of Nevada got them to call me (finally!) The customer service at Levinson’s law office is non-existent. I would not recommend Levinson’s law office to anyone on this planet, unless you’re the type that likes jerk offs. You have been warned… ”
“This law office took really good care of me and my chapter 11 Bankruptcy Case. The staff was very supportive and understanding. I wouldn’t recommend another attorney or law firm In Las Vegas, You want the job done right, GO see Barry Levinson and his wonderful staff.”
“This is the worst law office ever! I went there for Bankruptcy and they did the most horrible job. Do not go unless you want your case messed up and your attorney not to show up. I lost my house because of this attorney!! The only reason they’re getting any stars is because I had to! ”

Wow, this is quite a collection of reviews that cover both ends of the spectrum. There is really no happy medium with these 4 different reviews. I highly recommend that you read through all the reviews and then make your own decision.
As I mentioned at the beginning, we received a review of Barry Levinson and I think it’s appropriate to include that now. Please note that this is not our review but a review that we received from a client. I did take out some of their personal information to help protect their identity.

Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing this letter on behalf of the family in which I am a member. Our father died in August 2005 and we siblings found foul play of wrongful death involved and hired Barry Levinson. He took the case and we won and a settlement was awarded. Now mind you when Mr. Levinson received the said monies that we the family were never contacted and given this information. We went to Mr. Levinson’s office and acquired this information from a staff member, not Mr. Levinson himmself. Now after finding out this information Mr. Levinson then tells the family member that there was a lien on said monies and that is why monies have not been distributed. There has been no documentation given to the family. The month of Semptember 2010 family members were given a portion of the said monies and the family was told that an installment would be distributed each month until all monies were given. Oct, Nov. and Dec. goes by and no monies were distributed. The family calls Mr. Levinson but he won’t return calls. In the month of Feb. the family member was told by Mr. Levinson that in 30 to 45 days all monies would be distributed. 45 days pass and once again the family member goes to office where Mr. Levinson says again another 30 days. We the family believe there is unethical behavior and we are asking that this be checked into. Now considering the state of Nevada’s perfect record stating that no lawyer has ever been found guilty of unethical behavior we the family would like to think that the state of Nevada would like to keep said perfect record. I am submitting documentation of proof of unethical behavior and some basic laws governing what we the family believe Mr. Levinson violatd. All we want is what Mr. Levinson is withholding.

Upon receipt of this review we responded back to the family and suggested that they file a complaint with the State of Nevada. This is our standard procedure in cases like this.
To continue with the review I continue to look through the results on Google. I come upon Avvo which is lawyer review site. I’ve heard a lot of different things about this site as far as the peer review ratings go but for the sake of this post we’ll just focus on the client reviews. Again I’m going to just take what I see and post it here:

Once again we get two reviews that are completely opposite. I’m not quite sure what to think about that. It does make me question the validity of the good reviews though since they are so vastly different from the bad ones. Let’s move on to see if we can make sense of all of this. Yelp and Lawyers .com are normally good places to go but neither of them have any reviews posted for Attorney Levinson. On page 2 there is Kudzu.com which I’m actually not very familiar with when it comes to lawyer specific reviews. I’ve been doing this for a few years now and they are definitely not known for their lawyer reviews. It could be a situation where one person put in a review and that particular site came up as the place to put reviews for him so the others did the same. I did look at the entire category of lawyers and only one other attorney had any reviews in there so I’m still a little skeptical of what this particular website. Anyway, here is what the reviews say:

BEST LAW OFFICE IN TOWN!! Barry and his staff were extremely attentive, answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable. He deals with all aspects of the law and there is nothing he is not willing to help you with. He value’s each and everyone of his clients and take care of them the best way he knows how. Attorney Barry Levinson also consistently produces high quality work in a timely fashion. Choosing Barry was the BEST descion i could make, and would recommend him any day of the week.
Best Lawyer Around
He is the most knowledgeable lawyer around. I believe you get what you pay for. He more expensive than most, but if you go to other discount lawyers, your just going to have problems. i went to be he about a bankruptcy and I was very nervous, and thought it was the end of the world. However, i left feeling very comfortable and able to sleep again.

So here are 4 perfect reviews of Barry Levinson to consider. I looked through a few more pages on Google and didn’t find much else. Based on what I’m seeing I would highly recommend that you call the State Bar of Nevada if you’re seriously considering hiring him. There are a lot of other attorneys in town that I know for sure are ethical and don’t have any negative reviews so you might be better off talking to one of them also.
